Equipment

  • Sharp Knife or mandolin
  • Cutting board
  • Paper Towel
  • A dehydrator or oven with a cookie tray lined with parchment paper or a silicone mat
  • Hot Glue
  • String Twine, ribbon or fishing line

Materials

  • 1-2 Oranges

Instructions

  • Begin by slicing your Orange into even slices approximately ⅛-¼ inch in thickness.
  • If using a dehydrator, follow the instructions included in your dehydrator.
  • If you’re using an oven, preheat the oven to the lowest temperature it will go (ideally 200°F or lower).
  • Evenly place the orange slices in a single layer on a baking sheet prepared with a silicone mat or parchment paper.
  • Add the baking sheet of sliced oranges to the preheated oven and bake for 2-4 hours.
  • During the 2-4 hour timeframe, be sure to flip the oranges every 20-30 minutes.
  • When the orange slices are rigid and dry to the touch, remove the pan of orange slices and let cool to room temperature.
  • Gently blot the orange slices with a towel or paper towel.
  • Once cool, poke two holes on either side of the dried orange and string the oranges in a line.
  • Secure your oranges in place by putting a small dot of hot glue on the orange. Hold your string of choice down into the glue until it cools.
  • Continue this process until all your oranges are secured.
  • Once all your oranges are strung, hang or place your garland anywhere and enjoy!
